What is counted
A win, loss or tie comes from the final score stored for that team ID. The all-time card includes regular-season and postseason games. The season table keeps the two apart, and points per game use completed regular-season games only.
Why the record begins in 1999
That is the first NFL season loaded in this database. We do not fill earlier seasons from memory or mix in a second source merely to make the page look older.
What the current team name means
URLs use a stable numeric team ID and a readable name. The ID is the authority. Historical rows resolved to that ID appear under the current team name, so a relocation or name change does not create a second page by a fuzzy name match.
What this is bad at
- A team record does not know today’s injuries, depth-chart changes or game plan.
- Old seasons describe different coaches and players.
- A small recent streak can be ordinary randomness.
- Kickoff dates can move after the schedule is loaded.
Why there are only 32 team pages
The active NFL list is bounded. Each page has hundreds of completed games and a full season table. We do not generate player, week, matchup or historical-name pages just because the database could supply a row. A page must answer a distinct visitor question to be indexed.
